On Thursday 29th November 2018 Oasis of Peace UK was honoured to host Lord Dubs as he delivered its annual Philip Rueff Lecture. Lord Dubs spoke movingly and powerfully on “Refugees: Our Shared Responsibility”. His urgent call for displays of common humanity corresponded perfectly with Oasis of Peace UK’s support for the binational, bilingual community of Neve Shalom-Wahat al-Salam (NSWaS) where Jewish and Palestinian citizens of Israel fight for peace and a truly shared society.
In support of the community, Oasis of Peace UK launched its appeal for funds to help build a new playground for the children of the ground-breaking NSWaS primary school, where Jewish and Palestinian children learn and play together in both Hebrew and Arabic and discover, from an early age, that the “other” need not be the enemy; that they can in fact be a lifelong friend. You can help these children by donating using our donation form or via our MyDonate page (quoting “Playground” in your reference).
We thank Lord Dubs for sharing with us his extraordinary and necessary work in support of refugees and to all who attended for their support of Oasis of Peace UK.
