What we do

Oasis of Peace is the English translation of the name of Neve Shalom in Hebrew and Wahat al-Salam in Arabic - NSWaS

Oasis of Peace UK supports the Educational Institutions of NSWaS - a unique intentional community of Jewish and Palestinian-Arab Israeli citizens, located midway between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

Based on the ethos of NSWaS, our mission is to advance social equity and cohesion in both Israel and the United Kingdom.

We fundraise and raise awareness through events, newsletters, presentations, talks, visits of delegates from the community. We make applications to Trusts, inter-governmental organisations and other bodies to fund particular projects.

NSWaS is a pioneering role-model for Palestinian-Arab/Jewish projects. Its educational system paved the way for the growing number of Jewish/Palestinian-Arab primary schools. At present there are six schools in Israel that follow the NSWaS model.

NSWaS stands as a testament against extremism; a living example of equality between Jews and Palestinian-Arabs; education for peace and shared citizenship.

To find out more information about NSWaS, their website is accessible here.

Recorded zoom meeting with the Village

Even in these dark times, we struggle to remain hopeful for a future marked by true and just peace, where no innocent lives are lost to this avoidable conflict. We recognized that the hearts of so many people were with us during this period. To keep our friends and supporters informed we hosted a Zoom update meeting on November 2nd. We recorded for those who couldn't join.

  • Help the Village Continue to Fight for Peace resources

A message from the Village: We are mourning the thousands of dead on both sides and praying for the safety of the hostages. In the meantime, we are working together to heal our own wounds and those of our children and our friends, we are working together to increase the safety of our village, rethinking our activities and recommitting ourselves to showing the way toward peace and respect for all human life.
